A smart camera combines the sensor, lens mount, image processor, and inspection software into one enclosure. Instead of sending images to a separate vision PC, it captures, evaluates, and outputs a decision — pass, fail, count, read — directly from the unit.
That makes it a strong fit where a machine or workstation needs a single, self-contained inspection check: an end-of-line camera on a compact machine, a standalone station with limited panel space, or a simple check that doesn’t need the flexibility of a full multi-camera system.
